Karen Ingram
George Mason University
Karen M. Ingram is currently a doctoral student at George Mason University specializing in special education and educational psychology. She helped develop the Mason LIFE Program, an innovative postsecondary program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who desire a university experience, serving for 5 years as the Academic Coordinator. Her education includes undergraduate studies in educational psychology and social psychology through the Oxford Honors Program, Oxford University, England, and a Master’s degree in special education. She has taught university special education courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, presented at conferences, and is a frequent guest speaker on topics related to educating individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the lifespan. Her current research focus is exploring self-determination among young adults with intellectual or developmental disability with and without a postsecondary college experience as represented through their voice.
